Painting is a multi-step process, even if the task is very simple. Let’s start by working out how much of what you need.

If there are cracks in the wall, you’ll need plaster, but it really matters what kind. Most people find this out when they get to the paint store (or worse, Obi or Praktiker) and a simple purchase of materials turns into a longer and more travelled adventure. Furthermore, there is a huge (let’s leave marketing aside for the moment) difference between paint and stain. So if you want to tackle the job at hand, do your  own research, make the phone calls, find out which materials are right for what.If the the final part of the renovation such as painting is far enough away, ask the professional for his opinion, as he is the one who works with different materials every day.

Electrical wire update

When renovating an electrical network, it is almost inevitable that he has to cut or drill through the walls.  This may involve several walls and different rooms, from the entrance to the utility room.  These wall repairs can be done by a professional painter, you don’t need to call a bricklayer. This way you don’t have to wait for another professional to do the job, and there’s no need for coordination when the painter does it all. There are also countless examples of wall repairs where the owner wants to finish the painting, „just fix it, I’ll paint it”.

I’m a full partner in that, because there can be different reasons for that. It could be the pleasure of painting, it could be saving some money, or it could simply be that the renovation isn’t ready for painting. Unfortunately, renovations are expensive these days, in most cases painting is the last thing to be done with a limited budget, but there is a solution for everything.

Airbnb I’ve worked in (and will return to) a number of apartments that are not a home, but a source of money for the owner. For example, if you have an Airbnb that needs some or all painting or decorating, you can do it over time rather than paying for it all at once.  If the walls need painting, not only will we see it, but so will our guests.

New drywalls

If ceilings are insulated or walls are built, they should also be finished – painted or wallpapered. It is not necessary to paint the whole room  (but it is advisable if it has been done in the past) to reduce costs.

Door and Window replacements

 If you have windows that are beyond repair, or you want less noise and better insulation, it can be a very depressing sight after replacement. For those walls that need major repairs, get a professional to do the work and once it’s done, you can decide whether or not to paint the rest of the walls.

Finally, I would like to point out that these „small jobs” or unfinished services are charged at an individual price.  So I should definitely visit the site and discuss what is really important and whether the work makes sense at all.
